I received and email today asking for bean growing instructions, please always ask questions. my goal is to help support and encourage home gardeners!

In terms of growing beans:

-Pole beans will grow very tall and need support, I like to trellis, you can do a string trellis as well. Some like to grow in a bamboo, or stick "teepee", this has never been successful for me. Pole beans should be planted 6-9" apart.

-Bush beans do not need additional support, they grow 15-24 inches high. these should be planted 12-18" apart.

They can both be grown in containers, it is all dependent on size of containers.

Both beans should be planted at roughly the depth of the cells in which they are grown. If you want to make them very happy you can add a mycorrhizal supplement to the soil when you plant, here is a link to the one I have used: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DLJ1RB6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

People ask how often to water. While this appears to be an easy question it is not. Watering is dependent on far too many factors, wind, soil, temperature, sun exposure to give a one size fits all answer. The best way to tell is when the soil looks dry, stick your finger in. If it is wet below the surface, all is ok, if it is dry, water, and if you see wilt water.

The best time of day to water is in the early morning, before any wind comes up. During the heat of the day little holes on the bottom of the leaves open and the plant will not retain water. If the plant is wilting it is possible you must, not optimum. Watering in the evening can lead to mildew, but is still better than mid day.
